Know Thyself and Create a Sustainable World

John_Reinhard_Weguelin_–_The_Magic_of_Pa

We are in deep need of rediscovering the primal forces that constitute our innermost being to become real agents of change in the world. In our attempt develop a sustainable Self for a sustainable World (we believe there is no one without the other), we need to dig into these forces. What primal forces are we talking about?

Carl Gustav Jung, father of analytical psychology, called them archetypes. Archetypes are the primordial forms or images that these forces consistently shape or constellate into, even across cultures. Many of these archetypes we find in myth. James Hillman, founder of archetypal psychology, said that the great variety of myth offers the psyche multiform fantasies to reflect its multiple possibilities. Myth may be the key to creating a different world, healthier, more balanced, and just.
